Ok so the Thames Estuary may not be at its most picturesque here with the views of industrial Kent opposite and the less than attractive giant cranes now at Corringham up river. But for a walk with a view along Marine parade to Leigh and its many bijou shops and coffee houses or down to Old Leigh's charm and hostelries, this is a great location. I've no idea how much the new stairways cost and they certainly don't engender a stairway to heaven moment, but if you value function over form they do their job .....just watch out for the slightly sweaty keep fit brigade puffing and panting using them as part of their circuit apparatus if you're Covid19 savvy.
