We were walking past Bells and thought we’d give it a try on the eat out scheme. Excellent restaurant! Greeted at the door by a friendly face wearing a visor, hand gel applied, Social distancing within the restaurant good. Food was also amazing and at a fair price for the location. Totally recommend.

I've never written a Google review of food before but today I had a fish & chip butty from Bells that was so good I couldn't resist. Flavours and texture perfect, good value for money, an almost spiritual eating experience. 10/10.
This is the best fish and chips I have ever had. I say this as a fish and chips lover, I've honestly never had better. Locally sourced fish, potatoes and beef drippings. I've sent at least 5 different international students and their visiting families here when they've approached me to ask the whereabouts of good fish and chips in an attractive town in the North East.
We didn't have long to wait in the queue outside Bells. Track and trace protocol was in evidence. Very reassuring and a nod to the efforts Bells are taking to keep us all safe. The fish and chips were as tasty as any I have eaten in the past few weeks. The haddock I'd ordered was fried to perfection. The chips complimented the fish. The service was attentive, friendly and very efficient. Eat out to help out, gave us a pleasing discount. All things considered, it was the fish and chips which enticed us to Bells, not the discount. Thank you Bells. We will return on our next visit to Durham.
Tasty fish and chips on the go. Nice portion sizes and decent price too (cod and fish 7.20 if you take away). If you are a fish and chips lover then you can't miss this place. Their staffs are friendly and helpful too. I recommend Bells Thank you.
