I am a CNA but have worked as a home health aide for many years and 4 of them have been with Homemakers. I enjoy a lot of what I do in helping getting people showered, running errands, helping people clean up apartments, etc. However, I must admit that I don’t like running all over the county like I have done and kind of still do. I don’t mind taking care of a guy for 10 hours a day in Beaver Falls on Saturday. However sinceI live in Brighton Twp., I would much rather work with guys that live in Brighton Twp., Industry, Beaver, Rochester, or Monaca instead of going to one end of the county to the other end of the county. I hope I don’t get into any trouble for saying this, but I think Homemakers needs to send aides to clients that only live 10-20 minutes from the aide’s house and not send aides all over the county because gas prices are going up. Plus if an emergency happens, it will not take an aide as long to get to a client’s house if the client only lives a few minutes from the aide’s house as opposed to 30 minutes. That is partly why I bet you that some home health aides have left the agency. P. S. When I worked with an agency called Home Helpers, I worked largely with one guy from 8-2 who had Multiple Sclerosis and was his consistent caregiver from 8-2 even though he lived in the North Hills. Sometimes they sent me to someone else in the evening. When I found out about Homemakers after he died, I thought that I work a schedule like that from Monday through Friday but only much closer to home. Well unfortunately I was wrong because they have and still throw me all over the county usually 1 or 2 hours with somebody. The only one I am with more than a few hours is a guy from Beaver Falls for 10 hours on Saturday.

Was told by nurses at the hospital to contact this company for services for my mother. Absolutely useless. Took my info and never called back. When I reached out to them, they said it would be a inconvenience that I only needed an aide 1 hr a day for 3 days.

This company should no longer exist nor should they get government grants to help the elderly..the office personnel is extremely rude.

Please if you love a family member don't use this agency. My father had a massive stroke. Couldn't walk, eat or take care of himself. Most of their aides didn't know what they were doing. Except one Great girl who had to take a leave of absence. Many times their aides didn't show up with no calls or no warning. We are set up by the government to get help 7 days a week because of us taking care of my father at home. On several occasions there schedulers call and say they have no one to care of my father which needs daily care. I spoke with there manager, Maryanne more than 10 to 20 times without any help. Their nurse Amy very rude no help at all. Schedulers very rude. They answer the phone hello with not saying there names or Home health care. I asked if there was anyone higher than this manager Maryanne and Maryanne said it stops with me. We have used them over a year or so and will be looking for some place that is compassionate and cares about people. What a shame they are in business and how can they operate like this.
