Really cool place with a rich history. Too bad there's no qr code with info on its history and architecture but it's ok. Sad also that there's no open cafes (pandemic)

Once again I visited Batenburg from my home in Massachusetts USA. My last name Batenburg is preceeded by van. My understanding is \van\ means \from\. I have two sons that my Wife, Deb and I adopted and I wish they knew more about their ancestors. The only restuarant in Batenburg is great. The owners remember me when I visit, usually once a year. I hope you have a place like this that you can connect with. It is a lovely small village of very Dutch friendly people. The picture I believe is from the 20 ot 30's. Not mine.
Nice litte typical Dutch town, castle are the remnants of something beautifull
The Ruins was just okay. When I came after 20km bicycling to see them they were closed. I don't even know if they are open anytime. The road to the destination was nice, I really enjoyed it.
As you can see my ancestors helped make the castle about 800 years ago. History can ground you as you get connected to this world. An enchated place.
