The food was pretty good standard fare. The ambiance is really lovely and definitely matches the prices--even by Swiss standards it's expensive. The server was rude and openly mocked us as we were taking some photos to share with my mother (she wants to know I'm eating well!), and, perhaps ironically, to share here. I'd stop by again to sit out front and enjoy a beer, but wouldn't recommend it otherwise.

This is an old favourite of mine. The quality is still very good and under the new management of Mr. Peter Wyss it has received a retouch. As the name says, you can eat special dishes from the canton of Wallis (Valais), but you may also try other dishes typical for Switzerland. Most of us chose a Wienerschnitzel which was excellent and of large size.

We called in here for a drink and then came back to eat 2 nights later. This was after reading the reviews...We had a fabulous evening, the staff and hosts were charming, the food was delicious. Very large portions. They were great about my salad fads, no dressing. We had a great night and would recommend this to anyone especially if they are hungry.

There are 2 main dishes you should have there: either the cheese fondue or the schnitzel. We went for a fondue with mushrooms and it was really good although the bread was nothing special. The different wines we tasted were not astonishing and please note that the prices are considerably high even for Swiss standards.

Hands down the best schnitzel in Switzerland. The meat is prepared, then fried table side. Skip the fries and have it served with the pasta which is also breaded and extremely buttery.

Best place for cheese lovers!

The food is very tasteful and I can see it was a very old and traditional place. But the woman who serviced us was really in a bad mood I guess, we felt even scary to order and ask. All the other people there are really nice and friendly. We ordered 3 portions Fondue for 4 girls and 1 extra cheese plate. It is also pretty enough. The food is expensive but in a acceptable range, plus another bottle of water we spent 145 for 4 people.

We celebrated our anniversary here, it was an expensive meal, but I think most meals in Basel are. We made a reservation, but it wasn't crowded and we could have easily gotten a table. We had the truffle fondue, which was delicious! We asked our server for a good wine to pair with our fondue and his suggestion did not disappoint. It was a really nice experience!
