40th Anniversary Show @ St.Cyrus School Penarth, 14&15 July 2018. The Barry & Penarth Model Railway Club is situated on the top floor of the Cadoxston Conservative Club, The old Osbourne Hotel, Vere St, Barry, Vale of Glam. it is open to all ages & abilities (under 16 must be accompanied by an adult) first 3 visits are free then you may apply for a membership. (Politics does not apply at model club). The club has a few fixed layouts in various scales O gauge, OO gauge, N gauge & HO, British, European & American. You can take your own trains to run, build models & layouts with the members or just get some advice, the club builds layouts to exibit at many shows across the country through out the year & all are welcome. You can sit & watch trains go by from the club rooms, chat with a cupper from the tea/coffee bar & watch model trains at one level & through the windows the real thing on the Barry & Vale line, everything from DMU's, Steam & Diesel pass these windows through Cadoxston station (& Holton junction station the main OO club layout) including HSTs. Club meets on Tuesdays & Thursdays 7pm till 10pm. (chat in the bar after for older members) The club caters for all, a small team of lady's are building a layout at present, the younger members can run anything from Thomas & freinds to a full length coal train on the clubs layouts or use the spray room to paint models if they wish, while older members remanice about steam days & now diesel days. There is also lots of help & advice from the experience of members & many refrence books to view in the clubs library. New members always welcome
