We went there a little while ago and my wife, who's from Mexico, loved the cuisine. The service was great and we very much enjoyed our time. All of the murals around the building and the art inside really add to the flavor of the place. Please support this local restaurant. It's a part of Phoenix culture and diversity.

Absolutely delicious meal at Barrio Cafe. I had the mole which was excellent! My husband had Cecina which was also excellent. We live in the far west valley and don't make it to Phoenix very often but we were over there today and stopped in for an early dinner. This is a must try for those visiting or fortunate enough to live in Phoenix or east valley! Complex flavors and good portions. Loved this place!

Genuinely one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. With COVID we've generally avoided eating inside because some restaurants have not set up safely, but there was never a moment here that we were remotely uncomfortable. The food here is other-worldly. I never knew guacamole could be so good. We ordered 3 different entrees (for leftovers, the entrees are huge) and every single thing on the plate was perfectly thought out and tasted like it was the chef's sole purpose in life to create that exact dish. The staff elevates the dining to another level. Can't wait to get back.

We went there wanting to support since I heard it was closing. We were not even seated or approached we were ignored. The waitress a female lady passed us several times and purposely ignored us. When she wasn’t ignoring us she seemed to be glaring at us. We look normal enough. Had to leave after standing around for 20 minutes. I don’t think this place is closing due to covid but due to the lack of quality service. Unfortunately drove 30 minutes just to be ignored and glared out. Strange experience.

My friends and I came here to support a business that needed help. I am a third generation Arizona native and the political environment we are in right now has no bearing on what places I support because my community is my community. First, there was an hour wait because they are like every other restaurant and operating at a diminished capacity. Everyone seemed to be busy so we put our names down and decided to walk down the street to Casa Carazon to get a drink. We returned to Barrio Cafe and were seated after we were told we almost didn't make it in time even though they told us to be there at 7:40pm and we were standing in their lobby at 7:41pm. My friends and I have never been to this restaurant before and we had a few questions. With every question we asked our server rolled his eyes. We asked his recommendations and he rattled off so many things off the menu. With his mask on it was hard to hear or understand him. When we asked him to repeat he rolled his eyes again just said Chili Verde. We asked if there were chips and salsa not for free but just in general and if they had sour cream, Our server seemed offended and said no. Our server asked if we wanted Guacamole we declined because one of friends is allergic to avocados, our server again seemed annoyed. The food was good but was pretty pricey and toppled with the attitude from the server, we wont be back. I wish the restaurant all the success because its apart of my community, even if they don't consider me part of theirs.
