Update: Zeskinds is a Baltimore based hardware and millwork shop with very good service. There was an error in our order (door thickness - two doors were 1-3/4” and one was submitted as 1-3/8”) and they corrected that error. I took that as above and beyond and it was much appreciated. However, DO NOT buy veneered doors to be stained from Masonite. Spend the extra money if you need custom doors for your home and go to an experienced local wood worker. The three white oak veneer slabs we purchased have such a thin 1/16” veneer that the glue wept through, making them difficult to stain to an even, dark finish. There are also patches where glue smeared (around the door handle area) and since the surface is so thin, they can’t be sanded. Expect a lot of exposed glue and even wood filler in these products. The veneer also chipped out on the inside edges where sawn for assembly and they filled with a non-stainable putty. Not a lot of follow up from Zeskinds other than our complaint was “sent to Masonite”. Our high priced contractor has spent far too much time on getting an even finish on these. Turns out that is not possible and this is now our problem.
