I live in California, and discovered Deeside Books online while searching for rare 19th century books published in Britain. Mr. Wayte at Deeside was especially helpful in my purchase of an exquisite set. We worked together to formulate a mutually agreeable purchase, with which I am very pleased. All aspects of our negotiation were courteous, professional, and responsive, and I was very pleased with the price, quality, and fast shipping. The set of books was beautiful, and difficult to obtain in such good condition. It is almost impossible to find such books in the USA, but for the \miracle\ of the internet. It was a pleasure to do business with Mr. Wayte, and I highly recommend Deeside Books. Unfortunately, I have not been to the UK for several years, but I hope to visit again some day.

Awful customer service experience. Made to feel totally unwelcome, unnecessarily watched over by staff within seconds of entering the shop. Used my phone to search one authors merit and to compare 1st edition with later revised edition prices, only to find myself cornered by a member of staff peering over my shoulder at my phone, ‘ I was looking at your phone to see what you were doing’, I was told by the member of staff. Completely unexceptable and ultimately intrusive behaviour. Customers have the right to make a considered purchase, however clearly not at Deeside Books. Immensely disappointed as the whole family had been looking forward to purchasing a special book each to remember our visit, just as we have done so previously. Instead this year we felt hounded out of the shop. Deeside Books was the only reason to visit Ballater sadly there is now no reason to visit the town at all. As a frequent customer and supporter of many independent book shops I found the whole experience most upsetting.

Love this book shop. I go there to see what's new in the old military books. Excellent selection. I believe they are happy to take in some old books for free if you need to get rid of them.
