We cruised on The Randle for a week late June/July. Our first time traveling on a barge, my husband I were absolutely delighted with the trip. A most handsome barge, our cabin, the salon, and all the wood beautifully-maintained. We enjoyed delicious breakfasts and lunches served up by Gael the chef. Stuart did dual duty as line thrower and tour guide. We’d tie up and off we’d go into village, winery, or chateau. I cannot say enough good about our trip. Tim and his crew are amiable, adaptable, and erudite. So lovely a vacation, we have already reserved a 2 week trip in 2020.

Last week my wife and I spent an incredible week on the Randle. We had the whole boat to ourselves because her friends bailed out at the last minute but I have no doubt that had they been there the experience would have been just as enjoyable. Captain Tim, chef Gale and deck hand Stewart were delightful and met our every need. Between our starting point ,Clamecy , and ending point ,Auxerre, we passed through almost 40 locks. Our path weaved in and out of the Nivernais canal and Yvonne river through the beautiful Burgundy countryside. After a continental breakfast, most mornings were spent chugging to the next mooring- Gale ( who was trained at the Paris Cordon Bleu) provided an incredible lunch very day and a 5 star dinner on our second night. Most afternoons were spent on an excursion ( Noyers medieval village, cave painting tour and Roman ruins were highlights) and evenings at local restaurants. We especially enjoyed sitting on the deck in lounge chairs with a glass of wine cruising with the mesmerizing sound of the diesel engine. We have traveled widely and I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed a more pleasurable experience. Thanks to Tim, Gale and Stuart we will very fond memories of our trip and recommend it highly to others!
