The rides were fun, but for the most part, a big waste of money. Almost nobody accepts cash anymore, and they did away with tokens this year, too. Now you have to buy a wristband, then put money on the wristband if you want to do anything. Even to buy a turkey leg, you need a wristband. I was excited to go to the fair for months, and left the fair feeling defeated and ripped off. What a sham.

A great place for the Rodeo! About 40 minutes in an Uber from downtown Austin, the Rodeo is a small sized venue giving you great seats to watch the entertainment. Our rodeo evening included a number of traditional rodeo events, like bull riding and barrel racing as well as a concert from Ludacris! The staff are super helpful and were happy to explain how the events work as it was my first time! Plenty of food and drink options with beer service at your seat (you can buy a can of beer without leaving your seat.) Definitely a family friendly vibe and so easy to get to.

We always like to visit the rodeo. We usually just go to the petting zoo, market and see the various shows so we don't have to spend too much money. The one thing I don't like is having to stand in a long line to get the special bracelet to go to the petting zoo and having to put a specific amount of money on there. However, then you don't lose it! The food is typical fair food and while good quantities, a tad pricy. We were able to see a cow deliver her calf! What an amazing learning opportunity for my son. We also loved the walkin butterfly exhibit in which we could feed the butterflies
