Review Date: April 2015. Our 3 1/2 year old daughter started at Hawthorne when she was 1 1/2 in the Warblers group for 1 1/2 to 3 years old. Now she's in the Cardinals group for 3-6 years old. We're very happy with the school and feel that there is a culture of respect for the students. The lead teachers are very highly trained and they monitor any new, less-experienced teachers so that there is consistent teaching. The school can attract high quality teachers by offering more vacation and in-service days, so be sure to look at the calendar to make sure the number of days the school is closed is acceptable to you. We honestly haven't had any problems with this school whereas we did have quite a few problems with the school she was in before, so we're not just easy-going people who never take issue with anything. Update December 2017. Our daughter is now in first grade in public school. She is advanced in all academic areas. We credit this to Hawthorne. And we think most of the children who we know who went to Hawthorne are also academically advanced. They're learning things in a gentle, mindful way when most other kids (who are not in a Montessori program) are not presented with work.

The best decision we have made for our kids is sending them to Hawthorne. We started our daughter when she was one and is now getting ready to transition to the 3-6 classroom. We started our son when he was 6 months. Every room is clean, organized and well thought out for ages and ability levels. Every teacher is caring, knowledgeable, and happy. Both our children have wonderful language and communication skills as well as independence and confidence in their abilities. Every day they are happy and we as parents are thrilled.
SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. AMAZING. Caring, loving, compassionate. My son and daughter are learning so much. One of the best decisions our family made. You will love the environment, activities, outdoors, and staff. Very very impressed
