Great service, great food? Great ambiance. Definitely one of the top Seafood restaurants in Atlanta. Everything was fresh and tasted great. They have a wide selection of fresh oysters from thier oyster bar and all fish is caught that day. You have to try the hush puppies. They are more like a dessert than a starter but you will not regret it.

Came for the happy hour oysters! So glad we made a reservation at 5pm because it quickly filled up. We ordered the baker dozen to try a variety only for happy hour and loved it. We had the PEI mussels as well and the coconut broth was very flavorful. I would definitely return for the craft cocktails and ambiance.
I'll be honest and say that I've been to several spots across Atlanta and the United States that have great food and service. But The Optimist definitely outclassed all of them with the level of service. I've never had someone wipe the table off after I spilled bread crumbs on it. Or literally bring extra cloth napkin for my main entree. The service here is amazing. The food was also really good as well. The chicken that I had was tender and flavorful (but just enough flavor to where it wasn't overbearing). I would definitely recommend it.
Food, service, and atmosphere was amazing. Sea food cooked to right temperature and the sauces are all so delicious for plates presented. Will go back. Price of food is up there but you get what you pay for! My husband and I went on Valentines Day and had a special menu. How fun is that! To the couple who complained about their seating, come on, behind the bar was cozy and quieter than main dining. We were the closest table to the bathroom, but had a great perspective in the kitchen. If you didn't like where you were seated then ask to be moved. I am sure they would have been happy to move you if it was possible. Who are these people who rave about this place and give 4 stars without explanation? It is worth the 5 stars and money!
FOOD IS AMAZING - VALET NOT SO MUCH! This restaurant is one of my favorites in Atlanta! The calamari app, kale salad, and lobster rolls are delicious. And the buttered rolls - amazing!! Unfortunately, my car was badly damaged by the Valet Company (Phoenix Parking) that The Optimist uses at the Brady Parking Garage. We walked out of dinner in December and my front right bumper was badly damaged. After several months of very little response from the valet company (sending videos that showed the opposite side where the damages occurred), they are not willing to cover the damages as they do not believe they are responsible. Maybe it would help if they actually sent us videos of the side of the vehicle where the damage occurred! We will continue to come eat at The Optimist and understand it is not the restaurant's fault but will absolutely not be valeting. I encourage others who do valet to take pictures of their vehicle when they arrive.
