Dr. Jim Vickrey

About five years ago, I was referred to Dr. Greg Esper by a mutual friend on the Emory Medical Staff. I had suffered theretofore from migraine headaches, beginning in college. Accordingly, before I first saw Dr. Esper, I had seen a number of specialists in half a dozen cities in three states, attended seminars, done my own research, and more. None of them were able to solve my problem, although a specialist in UAB's Kirklin Clinicwas well on his way to doing so when the Clinic changed its patient-clinical study policy and, in effect, \fired\ hundreds of patients because they were not then in such a clinical study. It gave me more than one headache, protesting same. Within a year of seeing Dr. Esper, who has the sort of bedside manner all physicians should have, my headaches were under control, as a result of a combination of Rx and lifestyle adjustments and limited physical exercise (leg swelling and daily necessities have kept me form doing more. I have had only one real migraine since first meeting Dr. Esper and he and I have essentially eliminated them as a cause of agnst in my life. The only headaches I get these days are mild, end of the day ones, which I am able to knock out with sumatriptan and Fiorinal, which I take only as needed. (Most of my armada of medications sail from their bottle-ports either to prevent migraines or to treat other conditions I enjoy.) Bless you, Dr. Esper, whose last name rhymes with Vespers which always conjures up for me the quiet, cool, relaxed end of the day feeling that one would love to begin every day with. -- Dr. Jim Vickrey, Ph.D., J.D.
