Ashton market is one of the last remaining traditional british markets of yesteryear. With an amazingly diverse choice of produce and services from knowledgeable small businesses, it is well worth a trip. The only problem with Ashton market is that people expect to pay extremely cheap prices for the items they buy there. While it's not expensive, it is also not \pound shop prices\ but I would argue that the products sold there are usually better quality than pound shop products so I would say the prices are reasonable at most stalls. Truth be told, these little businesses NEED support, they are ruled over by an unfair, corrupt, market management group who charge extortionate amounts of rent and do nothing to help the stallholders. In short, to support the stallholders, their staff and the tradition that is markets, I would strongly recommend it.... the market managers on the other hand, should be disgusted with and ashamed of themselves and what they've done to the stallholders.
A once bustling market, but now quite quiet. Still good kiosks hawking fine goods. Market hall is still very good.
Searched everywhere for a replacement switch and couldn't find one anywhere, until I went to the vacuum stall in the inside market and he had exactly what we needed for pennies and such a nice man. I'd definitely recommend
