Asados Doña Tania was a place recommended by a few friends. The place lives to its hype and expectation.
If you wish to experience the local foods, then this is a place that the ambiance is local, service is truly personalized and the food is truly delicious.
The appetizers. There are combinations, so I tried what they call the "vigorón" yucca, with real pork and sprinkle of salad. There is the fried cheese, or fried "maduro" or ripe plantain. Or you may ask for a platter which offer sausages, tortillas, and many of the items mentioned above. Now, they serve a lot, so if you do not eat much, then do not order this, because you may not have enough for the food.
The variety of food is vast and it concentrates on local cuisine. My favorites is the combination of beef and pork, which they call "carne asada" con "cerdo". Combined with rice and beans, fried plantains and salad, or "gallo pinto" with "tajadas verdes" and "ensalada". The salad is a combination of cabbage, tiny slices of carrots with tomatoes in a vinegar.
In another occasion I tried a combination of beef with chicken all BBQ style on the grill in front of you, or near you. Both were excellent! You must always try the local beverages. Leave aside ordering sodas (coke, pepsi, etc.) try their cacao, or any combination of melon with oranges or any other type of fresh fruit beverages, you will not regret the difference in taste and will keep you away from those sodas for a meal.
Finally, there is a the final coffee or other dessert. Try the combinations, that is if you are willing to go outside your circle. In final analysis, the place is a local treasure, modest pricing and great food. I truly recommend the experience.
