I had my apprenticeship as an Instrumentmaker at De Koningh in 1958-59, while they were still at the Weerdjesstraat. In 1959 I emigrated to Canada where I worked as a Tool and Die maker at EMI in Halifax. In 1961, I joined the Canadian Army and had the responsibly as a Life-cycle Maintenance Manager for all Optical and Mechanical Instruments, IR, Thermal and Laser Instruments in the Canadian Forces. After 32-years I retired from the Army, and was employed as Chief-Optical Engineering Technologist at the Quality Engineering Test Establishment, (DND Canada) testing, evaluating and recommending all Electro-Optical, LASER, IR, Thermal, Fire-Control Instruments, for Tanks, Armoured Vehicles and Artillery prior-to purchase by the Canadian Forces. Finally, retiring after 51-years of Service in Canada. I claim part of my life’s success to the great basic Instrumentmaker training I received at De Koningh Meetinstrumenten Fabriek, Arnhem NL.
