Do not rent from Lyon Place, or any Saul Centers property. I lived here for two years and had a number of maintenance issues, including an exterior drain clogging and flooding my apartment, resulting in the hardwood being replaced. The response times were average. We had a passable experience. But moving out was the most teeth-pulling experience that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. The leasing office gave us written permission to move out on short notice but then recanted and stuck us with a bill. In the communications back and forth with their offices, I found their staff to be the least professional team I have ever dealt with. They routinely dodged emails, \forgot\ about scheduled meetings, and did not show any care to my case until it became clear that I would sue. They simultaneously insisted that they could not alter the amount owed according to the lease, while also shrinking the amount owed \as a gesture of goodwill\ despite claiming that they could not do that. Lyon Place is a decent place to live but god help you if you encounter any issues. They will never care, and no amount of pressure will make them care. Saul Centers has few properties in the area so you cannot threaten their reputation. Just stay away, for your own sake.

Lyon Place is so lovely and the Management and Service Personnel are attentive, friendly, kind and responsive. The tenants are genial, and it is a pet-friendly building, so our community encounters are often enlivened by animal personalities. One has a sense of shared community and camaraderie with Personnel and Tenants. The Building is welcoming, beautiful and meticulously kept, and my unit is spacious, featuring ceiling-to-floor windows, wonderful light and perfect views. Great services and perfect location for walking, shopping, entertainment, and a quick corridor ride to D.C. Could not imagine living anywhere else in Arlington.

Pros: the front desk staff are always helpful, proximity to the Metro is a big plus, building engineers and cleaning staff are super courteous, no pet rent, just a one time fee when you move in, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are pretty close. Cons: the management of the building frequently nickel and dimes on extra fees, front office staff rarely respond to inquiry emails in a reasonable amount of time, early birds beware of the noise from the establishments around the building in the evenings, some apartments have very, very sensitive fire alarms (bakers and amateur cooks should check were the fire alarm is relative to the kitchen before moving in), walls seem to be a bit thin.

Our new apartment was missing four screens which was very annoying. We finally got new ones put in, but noticed one was loose because it was making noise when it was windy. I contacted the building to have maintenance fix it since I have seen screens that have fallen onto the sidewalk. After a week and a half, it had still not been fixed because the building doesn’t think potential injury is deemed an emergency. We just got a bill for moving out of our apartment which included a 125 cleaning fee despite the fact that we cleaned the apartment beforehand. The only mention about a cleaning fee was that they were offering a cleaning service for a fee of 125 if we wanted to go that route, but we never contacted management to set that up. Apartments and location is great. However management is subpar. They do not respond to emails and more often than not, fail follow through. Some of the management staff are unable to answer even simple questions.

The building is extremely well managed and maintained. All of the concierges are very friendly and seem to know all of the residents. The maintenance team is extremely efficient, almost always resolving requests same day. Location can't really be beat and units are nice. My only wish were that they would create a dog friendly zone on the property. A small fenced run in the courtyard or some space on the roof. This place is dog friendly and a lot is paid to have them here, but it doesn't offer anything for our furry loved ones.
