We shared a very large piece of carrot cake for dessert. Delicious. I'm from out of town. I wanted something intimate, \boutique\ style and fun for girls. It's definitely a diamond in the rough and I would highly recommend Aposto!!! Thank you for making our celebration memorable. We will definitely be back.

Aposto at the Scala House is one of my fiancé and I’s favorite place to dine out. We came here right before he proposed to me. The restaurant is located within a historic house and dining here gives off a traditional old style feel with a serene atmosphere. Our waitress Kaitlin was very helpful and extremely well versed in the menu and was able to offer several suggestions. The house special and Triangoli dishes were divine. We went early (around 6:30) for a quieter atmosphere and it consistently became busier as the night went on.
Food was fantastic. Service was prompt, friendly and genuine. I can’t remember exactly what we had but it was a 3 course meal with a bottle of Shiraz. Each course of the food was delicious. It was the kind of cuisine that after each bite I had to pause to let my senses catch up with the flavors I was experiencing. Truly great. Shout out to our server, Tara.
First time visitor... My wife and I had dinner reservations at 730pm on a Friday night. The server was rude and short with us from the start. I asked for my 2nd drink of the night and I was ignored. I waited 5 more minutes until the server came back to check on us. Water and old fashioned completely empty. I asked again for the drink and I was cut off but told “maybe after we buy dessert?!!!” We were 2 people on a date enjoying each other’s company and well dressed but were told we were too loud so no more drinks, this is after our FIRST one of the night! Meanwhile there was a 6 top across the restaurant that I could hear their entire conversation and eruptions of laughter the entire time we were there, much louder than the 2 of us were being in the corner. After being completely embarrassed in front of the table next to us by our server, we ate our food as fast as possible and left cash in the check holder. They then proceeded to call us after we left to say we stiffed them on the bill after leaving just under a 100 cash on a 78 bill. I own several Des Moines area businesses and I pride myself on top customer service and I expect the same from the restaurants I visit. This business is absolute trash. I will never forget the way they made us feel. Do not go.
The absolute best! Simple food done right. Delicious! There is no parking on site. So streetside parking could be a challenge at certain times.
