Must try when in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Is it raw, pickled or smoke herring? Doesn’t taste salty, sour or smoky flavor. It just simply tasted rich with lots of umami in every bite. Highly recommended.
I just had to try it - Holland is the best place to try Herring and I saw this spot as being pretty good with handling their fish. Objectively, the sandwich is decent and the fish isn't overpowering. But it is cured and so if you don't like continuously having the taste of fish in your mouth then it'll be more of a two-nibble experience like it was for me.
More delicious than I imagined. Get the herring Amsterdam style. Classic Dutch food experience!
