Amberley Tea Room

Excellent old fashioned cottage so full marks for the atmosphere. If seriously reviewing tea rooms though, a couple of things to note: the choice of cakes is very bland - don't expect seasonal or interesting specials. As far as portions go some cakes like Victoria sponge will be served in almost ridiculously large portions, the much tastier carrot cake will not - and it's hard to tell what's good since the cakes are not displayed despite the numerous glass domes they have on display. More disappointingly, they don't serve tea in teapots anymore, so you won't get extra water and all the rituals you might expect - just a single cup of tea which may or may not last through that ginormous piece of simple sponge.

Great little place in a truly lovely village. Friendly staff and delicious clotted cream teas. Stop in on a walk or when you're visiting the castle.

The tea room is a tea room: meh - while the whole of this gorgeous and interesting little village & surrounding countryside is absolutely devine and completely necessary to go visit on a nice and sunny summers day. And yes, the tearoom is an essential stop off point for a much needed cup of tea at the end of a lengthy exploration of this gorgeous and fascinating place, but it's not the tea room you'll come away from, remembering fondly and vowing to return to - it's the whole of Amberly and surrounding area with so much beauty, uniqueness and subtle strangeness that you will want to bring others to see, and will recommend again and again.
