I saw Tom this morning and was very happy with a really thorough eye test, carried out in a professional, but relaxed and friendly manner. I had been having problems with a new prescription after cataract surgery and everyone was helpful, considerate and pleasant. There is a large car park behind the opticians and a café next door.
Let me just start by saying how refreshing it was to speak to such fantastic, helpful, calming, knowledgable and caring staff from the get go! I’m so grateful especially with the way everything is at the moment, to be able to speak to such understanding people. On Tuesday 12th May I was referred to see an optician about a significant issue I was having with my left eye which was affecting my sight at work. As I’m not from the area originally, nor do I know anyone from the area, I googled hoping somewhere would be open and be able to help me (within the current covid-19 situation). A few places turned me down and told me if it wasn’t an emergency they wouldn’t speak to me...THEN I came across Alvaston Opticians and I couldn’t believe how quickly they were offering to help me and not only that, they were due to close in the next 10 minutes and still arranged for a video consultation that same day, just 20 minutes later when he had finished work. The video consultation with the optometrist was fantastic, I couldn’t believe how much he wanted to help, how understanding he was and put me at ease about it. I’d mentioned that I was due to work at 5am then next day and how the problem was causing my eye to close and stream constantly. To my surprise, he then delivered me the eye drops and an eye mask that same evening to my home address in his own free time! (if it wasn’t for covid we would have offered you a proper northern brew and biscuits!) I was grateful, I was lost for words which is really not like me at all. So I’d really really like to extend my thanks out to you. I know it’s only a review but I was so grateful for the help it really means the world to me when people are so kind like that. To the lady I spoke to over the phone as well, thanks to you for sorting all of this out and also making me feel less stressed about it. I really am so grateful. Stay safe.
