From the time I walked in the staff was incredibly friendly and assisted me and my children with genuine hospitality. The nurse made my children feel comfortable and at ease during their first covid testing. We were given water bottles. They really rolled out the red carpet for us. I can honest agree with people when they call ppl in the medical field superheroes. Medstar Alexandria (king st) showed us that during our visit. Thank you

Awful location. Due to the pandemic, I haven't been going into DC so I didn't go to my usual doctor. I saw Dr. Leuschen at the Alexandria location for a routine physical. She asked if I had any pain anywhere. I said I get chronic neck and headaches and gassiness. Well it turns out talking about that is not part of the physical?! So I got billed 90 for it. Then she says \we ran out of time\ and can finish the visit with a virtual appointment. No one explained they'd be billing my insurance TWICE for a physical. They obviously only cover one per year so I got a second bill for 263. I NEVER had this issue with any medstar doctor before. 100% do not recommend.

For the last few years, this place has been fine for my primary care needs (annual physicals; basic health concerns like the cold and flu). My experiences with the medical staff have been positive. The woman who draws my blood here does an excellent job of keeping my pain/discomfort to a minimum. However, during my last non-routine visit, the doctor really disappointed me. The doctor essentially gave me the \school nurse treatment:\ told me take over-the-counter medication and \wait and see\ if my condition approves. It was a waste of time (time better spent on Google diagnosing myself and searching for a new primary care physician who can provide more thorough, thoughtful care).

I wanted to get my medical tests done here, as a MedStar patient, and I thought they offered this convenience, after all, they are part of a meducal group, but they offer no conveniences at all. It's not like belonging to a medical group with options, it's one tiny place with zero convenience. Pick another medical provider. The office staff were rude, also, didn't listen to what I said, they were in such a hurry to barrel on, so I wound up having to answer a question after everything I said anything. Her: You must tell me the color of the sky. Me: The sky is blue. Her: You must provide the color of the sky in order to book you an appointment. Me: The sky is blue. Her: You must tell me how many cats you have. Me: I have 1 cat. Her: MedStar requires that you provide the number of cats in your home in order to book you an appointment. Me: I have one cat. On and on. I don't know if it's lack of training, or what, but clearly she had a script, and every box was going to be precisely ticked one after another, but, even though she was reading the script, there were unspoken stage directions I was required to follow. During COVID-19 we all have some bad days, but this is the standard for the staff at MedStar, yes, it's minor annoying, rather than life shattering. I would like some more efficiency. I liked my physician at one location, but not the other. I suggest finding a different provider.

Doctor visits are fine, however the follow-up staffing and discussing lab results with staff on your visit are terrible. You have to call many time to try and get information and answers and no record of the first conversation so have to repeat yourself and stay on hold. You are told someone will call you back and then nobody follows up. This has happened recently and happened about a year ago when I was running out of a prescription. Systemic problems.
