I wanted to write a review of this clinic as a former employee. I have been a licensed therapist for 13 years now and this was the healthiest, most professional, and truly ethical clinic I have ever worked at. It’s important when seeing a therapist that you know that they are well taken care of and supported in the work they do and that’s how Southwest Neuropsychology and Behavioral Health runs. I feel so much confidence in the way they practice that I send my friends and neighbors there when they are needing anything from assessment to counseling services. I was always proud to work at SNBH because it is so well regarded amongst mental health professionals in our community and also because the quality of the work of all of the clinicians is so high. Everyone is experienced and expertly trained. All client situations are regarded with the utmost care to client privacy and the ethics of our profession. There is a colleague culture of support and great care is taken that therapists don’t risk burn out. The offices are all physically beautiful but the heart of this practice is even more beautiful in the uniquely superb way it provides mental health services to our community.

This practice will happily take your insurance or payment for an intake appointment, as they did with my daughter. 150. During the intake appointment, my daughter who is 16 clearly stated that she has had suicidal thoughts. Not only was there no call back, but when I contacted them to see where we were on the waiting list to see a psychiatrist, the receptionist explained that there is no available appointment with a doctor \in the foreseeable future.\ As in, no waiting list, no estimated time for treatment for a teen who has expressed suicidal thoughts, and zero follow up from them after intake. If you need Adolescent Psychiatry as our family so acutely did, I would go to Colorado, or lawyer up. Bordering on criminal negligence.

I'm a woman in my late 50's who has been dealing with undiagnosed bi-polar disorder for decades. A combination of menopause and an incorrectly prescribed anti-depressant by my PCP had me going off the rails in July. I reached out to them, to try to get an appointment with Dr. Laura Adler. After describing what I was going through at the time to the receptionist, Ashley, I was told that they would get back with me. After almost a week, I was contacted by Ashley and told that SW Neuropsychology would not be accepting me as a patient as they felt my case was \too complex\ and that I would be better served elsewhere. At the time I contacted them, I was having anger issues with suicidal ideation, which was out of the norm for me and I wanted to see somebody. So they rejected me. Just a few days after I was rejected, I quit my job in a fit of anger, and a few days after that, I was in the ER at Presbyterian with suicial ideation. The day after that, I self-advocated and decreased my anti-depressant and lo and behold, the anger and suicidal ideation have disappeared! I recently shared this episode with my new PCP, who immediately typed up a referral for me to Southwest Neuropsychology. I didn't bother to tell him I'd already been rejected by these people. Of course after receiving the referral from my doctor, Ashley contacted me REJECTED ME AGAIN. This time, I was told I was being rejected because their practice deals mainly with geriatric patients. I'm 57. A 15 year old will tell you I'm practically in the ground. I don't know whether these people think I'm try to grift them out of prescriptions for opioids or what. Every day I'm bombarded with ads for bipolar medications and how peoples lives can be improved by \talking to your doctor.\ Good luck with that if you live in Albuquerque.
