I've lived on Tyneside for 11 years and heard a lot about Ahmed's but this was my first visit. Went with a list of ingredients and they had everything. Walking around the shop is mouthwatering - spices of all kinds, fresh fruit & vegetables, eastern cakes & treats , pickles, flours and, for the carnivores, a tremendous butcher. The helpful staff know where everything is so no excuses for going home without something. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and they are cheaper than most supermarkets.

Brilliant shop for all spices
Brilliant international store,. Staff were friendly and very helpful and were able to recommend an alternative product in place of Miso paste, which they had sold out of. Products are also reasonably priced. I would recommend this shop.
Really good place, and if you get there after mid morning then there's usually fresh samosas bhaji's etc at the tills. Great selection of Indian/Arabic foods, utensils etc, and a halal butchers, but a little lacking in Chinese/East Asian stuff (hence why 4 not 5*).
