This Greek Orthodox Church is estimated to built more than a thousand years ago. It is located on the highest hill of Buyuk Ada and offers magnificent views over the rest of the island and the mainland. You can go inside the church, but you need to pay entrance to get in.

The Church is built on the top of Princess Island. It is assumed that it was built in 963 AD. It has a beautiful view from the top where one can watch the sea on both sides of the island.
Well worth a visit to this historic small Greek Orthodox Church with old icons and fantastic interior. It's quite a walk up a fairly steep hill, can be very hot in summer time, so have water and be reasonably fit. There is no transport from the bottom. You can rest along the way and as well as the church at the top, there's also a decent restaurant with wine and cold beer!!
The road to this place is inseparable part. It's hard, it's beautiful& physical. When you are on the edge of your abilities, with crying baby in your hand reaching top, getting to the restaurant is heaven. Meatballs are good Try red wine. It's Soo good.
Such a wonderful place on the top of the mountain at Büyükada! The view is stunning! The church is so beautiful. A quiet, calm place with beautiful icons. Outside there is a very nice place to eat and drink with very reasonable prices for it's location. The sad part is the people who disrespect the nature...the surrounding is full of garbage....
The only good think about this place it just the view of Marmara sea. You are prohibited to use the bike from center of mountain until the top , so you need to walk almost 1 km. Inside the church I could not see nothing special that make it worth to just come to see it, maybe for true believers this should not be a problem. I saw one jar that was with called wishing jar were people donate some money and put in one paper there wish. The view like I mention it excellent, you have also some bench and small shop were you can rest.
So we decided to rent 2 bicycles Very soon we find out that we are much more fit than most of other people who rented bicycles Weather was beautiful was very hot but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the ride Somehow we climbed up to the church with those bicycles (not riding just pushing up the hill) and the view was just breathtaking As we had map we decided to go around island where we seen lots of beautiful views and interesting houses And those purple flowers ..... Definitely worth to visit Stay fit people
The views walking by this place are amazing. The place itself is rather barren and empty. It was a fun journey to walk around the island.we followed google maps to trace different routes so that we don't pass the same route twice. We discovered this place and several others by chance.
