NeSMAH is the first initiative to establish a UAE-wide, inter-university, intergenerational and interdisciplinary student network that brings together undergraduate and graduate students from 10+ UAE universities seeking career prospects in the fields of medicine and health. Our network welcomes students from a variety of fields, ranging from Biomedical Engineering through Medicine and Sciences, to Health Policy and Public Health. The hallmark event of NeSMAH is an annual conference that takes place in a different host institution every year, and with a different theme. Mission statement The Network of Students in Medicine and Health (NeSMAH): 1. Creates a network of students in the fields of health and medicine across universities in the UAE; 2. Builds a unique platform to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ideas to provide innovative solutions through interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts; 3. Serves as a hub for professional development through networking across a diverse range of career fields. History The founding of NeSMAH was led by three NYU Abu Dhabi seniors: Tamara Gjorgjieva, Hala Aqel and Alvaro Yanez. It was officially established on November 24, 2018 during the Inaugural Event at NYU Abu Dhabi by students representing 8 universities: Abu Dhabi University, Abu Dhabi University Al Ain, American University of Sharjah, Khalifa University, Al Ain University of Science and Technology, Fatima College of Health Sciences, University of Sharjah and New York University Abu Dhabi. NeSMAH's first annual conference took place on April 5, 2019 in NYUAD, under the title The Future of Healthcare in the UAE.
