81 Beach Street

Lovely meal here after booking for a Monday night. We shared a meat platter to start with followed by a small rump steak and fish in a caper sauce for my wife. All the food was well cooked, well presented and served efficiently by the staff. I would recommend anyone staying in Deal to eat here.

Nice smart casual vibe. Nice when you want something a bit special but not too smart. Nice big windows so can see the sea. The tart tatin was a great option as haven't seen that on many menus here in the UK. Waiters were great. The tables and chairs could have been a bit smarter though.

Distinctly average, such a disappointment. Having recently moved to the area we are all exploring away and the reviews have been good for 81 so far. The food overall was to be fair rather good. The starters in particular, the prawns were very memorable as being delicious. The main issue here is the dismissive service, which was unbelievably slow, nobody at all. We had to remind them and repeat and ask again for everything almost every step of the process. After lunch we left a tip despite the uninteresting service to which on the way I overheard the teenage waiter complaining that we 'only' left a 10 tip. They were stood at the counter adding up the tips and complaining audibly about people being stingy, apparently including us. The food is not enough to make up for such immaturity and rudeness and we will probably never bother here again. Have found fantastic restaurants nearby.

Very enjoyable lunch today. Friendly and efficient staff, good food and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.
