The big advantage is that it's a tiny airport. No long queues, no endless waiting for customs. Just arrive at the airport, take a decent coffee and walk to the plane.

Update October 2019: Rotterdam Airport is under reconstruction and hence heavily overcrowded in a temporary departure hall. ..... Original 5-star review: Rotterdam The Hague airport or Zestienhoven as it is known in the Netherlands is an ultra-convenient regional airport, just as much worthwhile driving to as Schiphol but much cheaper and quicker. The only disadvantage perhaps that it is not directly reachable by train or metro. A train station here would be a great bonus!
