Easy access. Only a mile or so walk although was a bit wet underfoot. Blacked out land rover appeared at one point but ignored us!
Loved every minute of it, yes the walking was a pain in the arse as all the fields around it are thorns, nettles, bog, Thistle etc but when we got onto the airfield wow loved going in all the planes and helis, we just strolled around spent 4hours there then on the walk back just wanted to be kicked out but we didn't so had to go back through all the bog etc
On the map it looks like an easy walk. It’s not. You have to have proper hiking gear and be ready to spend 90 minutes walking one way. There is also a chance you will not be permitted to enter so keep this in mind!
Usually desserted and you can sneak in very easily to have a look around, but don't be suprised if you're asked to leave! It's very cool though.
