Great restaurant. Has nice outdoor seating. Food was genuine and fresh. Has vegetarian options which is rare for Afghan restaurants. You can see them cooking the meat fresh which is great. Will definitely come again.

We have been coming here for years, but it has not stopped amazing us. Amazing taste, specially go for the lamb shanks with the Afghani pulao with raisins and all. You wont be able to stop
I love this place! Whenever I step inside I feel like I'm in another world. For anyone who is interested in experiencing the unique and interesting culture of Afghanistan, this restaurant is a MUST VIST! The food is delicious, and the owner/chef Abdul is extremely warm, and welcoming (if you're reading this, thank you Abdul!). I stopped by today for some Bolanee Kadu (fried turnovers filled with mashed pumpkins, herbs, and spices). They are crispy and sweet. I also love the interior of this place. Check out the really cool map of the country on the back wall. This restaurant has been around for 28 years! With Covid numbers rising in the city again, I fear gems like this are in danger of being lost. I encourage my fellow NY foodies to take a trip here or order some takeout/delivery ASAP to help ensure we keep this very special place alive.
My man loves this place. They're chill and lowkey. It seems bummy at first but that is the charm. The food is good and not too expensive.
Balkh Shish Kabab is amazing and top notch Perfectly cooked Afghan food with large portions that you can spread across a few days. The store owner is an amazing and caring man, and it feels as if you’re getting food from a family member. As always Afghan rice is magical and their rice is delectable. I would highly recommend that you order your next meal from them. If had them every other week since I’ve moved to the area.
